Gilbarco Veeder-Root launches EV recharging ecosystem ‘Konect’

GVR said Konect offers a suite of EV charging hardware and software for fuel retailers wanting to install their own EV charging infrastructure.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR) has launched Konect – an EV recharging ecosystem designed specifically for the fuel retail industry. Launched recently at the UNITI Expo, GVR said Konect offers a unique, fully integrated, site-wide suite of market-leading EV charging hardware and software solutions for businesses wanting to install their own EV charging infrastructure while driving down costs and maximizing return on investment (ROI).

GVR said Konect’s mission is to create the most compelling business case for fuel retailers to install EV charging on their sites. They do this by minimizing upfront capital and ongoing operating expenses while unlocking new profit pools, creating a meaningful ROI, the company said.

Konect provides wrap-around support – including consultancy, installation, maintenance and customer service, GVR said. It’s a solution that enables customers to future-proof their facilities without distracting them from their core business and at the heart of the solution is an EV charging system co-developed with SK Signet Inc., according to GVR.

Developed for integration capability with GVR’s existing full-site fueling, payment and service solutions, Konect enables new profit opportunities for fuel retailers, while empowering them to accelerate the journey to electric mobility, the company said. Fleet operators are also able to specify a turnkey, connected EV charging offering that optimizes operational efficiency and delivers a smooth transition to electrification.

SK Signet, based in Seoul, South Korea, will manufacture the EV charging equipment for Konect in the U.S. and Korea.

Gravity releases universal EV charging ‘trees’ for city streets

The ‘trees’ require no utility upgrades and are capable of providing 200 miles of range in either 13 minutes (200kW) or 5 minutes (500kW).

Gravity has released a new universal on-street mounting and cable system, dubbed "DEAP Trees," for its 200kW and 500kW Distributed Energy Access Points (DEAPs). Gravity said it is striving to develop a network of on-street DEAP charging more expansive than Tesla's current Supercharger network.

Gravity's engineers, in collaboration with design firm Rangr Studio, took on the challenge of solving frictions in curbside charging today. Each Gravity universal DEAP Tree has a hinged swing arm holding a cable that pivots down when charging begins, allowing it to reach the port of every make and model. When charging is completed, the arm raises automatically and the EV connector latches back onto the pole and out of sight.
